About The Writers Guild of Alberta: Benefits of joining the WGA
Your membership in the WGA offers you reduced rates in a number of valuable programs, access to information useful to writers (including market information), the chance to connect with and be a part of Alberta’s dynamic literary community, and the opportunity to contribute to the efforts of an important arts advocacy organization.
For your membership fee, you will receive:
- One-year subscription to WestWord - the Guild's bi-monthly magazine containing articles of interest to writers and listings of markets, contests, awards and events
- Access to the Manuscript Reading Service
- Support information from office staff to help you meet your writing goals
- Opportunities to connect with other writers
- Weekly electronic news bulletins (WriteClick) providing up-to-date information on writers' markets, news and events
- Access to the member only section of the WGA website, including a listing in the online member directory, access to the electronic WriteClick and WestWord Archives, and access to the online discussion boards.
- Reduced rates for retreats, workshops, conferences and youth programs
- Opportunity to advertise your book in the annual Holiday Book Flyer in WestWord

Membership rate is $60 per year or $30 per year for seniors (60+) or students. Membership is open to all writers resident or formerly resident in Alberta. To join,
